Digital Media Innovation Degree
The Digital Media Innovation (DMI) major immerses students in the breadth of digital knowledge to prepare them for new and emerging media roles. The DMI degree is a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) -designated program, a federal designation defined by the Department of Homeland Security. It is the only program in the College of Fine Arts and Communication with the STEM designation, integrating communication, media and technology.

ignite - Entrepreneurship Workshop
A Weekend for Entrepreneurial Discovery
Thanks to the work of an interdisciplinary team of Texas State faculty and entrepreneurs, what began years ago as “3 Day Startup” (or 3DS) has evolved into a new program called “ignite”.
Ignite is a weekend for entrepreneurial discovery that is a virtual, 3-day, learning-by-doing workshop for students interested in learning more about the fundamentals of entrepreneurship. Whether you have an idea for a business or are simply curious about the fascinating world of entrepreneurship, Ignite is the perfect place to begin your journey!
Ignite workshops are held once each long semester and once over the summer. Ignite workshops are open to all Texas State students and are held entirely online (via Zoom).Students work in diverse teams with peers from across campus and receive guidance from experienced faculty, entrepreneurs, and mentors (many of whom have started and sold their own businesses).

A place where ideas become reality by offering the latest in manufacturing technology and a hands-on environment to give Texas State University students, teachers, and staff the opportunity to take an idea or project and leave with a finished prototype.

The MARC's Advanced Prototyping Laboratory serves as an advanced maker space and laboratory for innovation and new product design. Its capabilities allow for state-of-the-art processes to create using materials such as metal, plastic, wood, and others.

The MARC provides a seamless environment integrating applied multidisciplinary academic research, industry sponsored projects, and experiential learning opportunities for students addressing creation of a talent pipeline by integration of research, education and commercialization outreach.

The MSEC program’s goal is to train graduate scientists and engineers to perform interdisciplinary research while equipping them to emerge as effective entrepreneurial leaders in the advancement of 21st-century global discovery and innovation.

Media Innovation Lab (MiLab)
This space includes a student lab, laptop lounge, teaching lab and maker space. Users are able to experiment with 360 video, drones, sensors and other emerging technologies and receive training in a range of digital product management and social media techniques.

Microsoft Pitch-Off
The Pitch-Off, co-sponsored by Microsoft and Net Impact, gives students the opportunity to propose a solution that addresses a problem in their local community. Judges from Microsoft and the local community will evaluate proposals.

Multidisciplinary Innovation Lab (The MiL)
Multidisciplinary Innovation Lab is a digital fabrication space. Here, students will learn how to operate the equipment for school-related projects. The MiL is equipped with a laser cutter, die cutter, 3D printers, and a CNC router. The MiL is available for currently enrolled Texas State University Art + Design students, faculty, and staff.

Net Impact
Award-winning Net Impact provides members with hands-on experience at top quality, unique sustainability projects on campus and along the IH-35 corridor. Net Impact is an organization of 60,000 global members including McCoy College’s gold chapter.

The goal is to promote innovation and entrepreneurship at Texas State by building bridges between Texas State and other talent hubs in the Central Texas Innovation Corridor and beyond!

PhDigital Bootcamp
The Ph.Digital Bootcamp prepares mass communication doctoral students and early career faculty (within two years of completion of doctoral program) to become digital scholar-educators and lead curriculum innovation.

STAR Park
The Science, Technology, and Advanced Research (STAR) Park serves as a catalyst for collaboration supporting Texas State’s goal of becoming eligible for distributions from the National Research University Fund by growing the regional ecosystem through activities promoting and supporting commercialization, entrepreneurship, and innovation.

Texas State Innovation Corps (I-Corps)
The Texas State University I-Corps Site is a National Science Foundation funded program that fosters entrepreneurship by supporting Texas State’s commercialization culture. The I-Corps Site provides infrastructure, advice, resources, networking opportunities, training, and seed funding to enable teams of Texas State faculty and students to transition their innovations to the marketplace. The Site is led by Dr. Jennifer Irvin (Director, Materials Science, Engineering and Commercialization Program and Associate Professor of Chemistry), and Dr. Jana Minifie (Director, Service Learning Excellence Program and Professor of Management).
